W07 Blog: Differences in Manners

As a follow up to the last post, let's talk about differences in manners.

Besides student participation and personal space in the classroom, there are other ways that manners affect how students interact with their teacher and with their peers.

A few manner differences to consider, although not all may be seen in the classroom:

- Chewing gum: many schools across the world do not allow gum in schools, but some schools may not see gum chewing during lessons a problem.

- The "peace" sign: most countries view this as a sign associated with rockstars or the like, as a way to say hello/goodbye or to interact with their fans. However, in some countries this sign can be extremely offensive.
